How do I get bibliographic data of referenced documents?
As defined in the specification, PAIA identifies document copies (item) and documents (edition) with URIs. The optional field about can be used for a short textual description. The definition of bibliographic data formats is out of the scope of PAIA. Best practice, however, is to provide more detailed bibliographic data this way:
- Provide Linked Open Data in RDF if the URI is accessed with a HTTP Accept-Header for RDF
- Provide an HTML page at the URI with microformats or RDFa data
- Provide an HTML page at the URI with unAPI autodiscovery and identifier. This is the most flexible option for clients as one can provide bibliographic data in multiple formats.
- Provide an HTML page at the URI with COinS
